Two new movies out this weekend… “Crimes of the Future” rated R and starring Viggo Mortensen, and “Watcher,” also rated R and starring Maika Monroe and nobody you’ve ever heard of. My recommendation: if you haven’t seen “Top Gun: Maverick,” everybody’s been raving about it.
Although it’s a winner in most countries around the world, “Top Gun: Maverick” could be banned in China because producers decided to restore the Taiwanese flag on the back of Tom Cruise's jacket in the movie. The jacket, which he wore in the original movie, was to honor his dad, whose Naval tours included Japan and Taiwan. But originally for the newest movie, the flags were removed in what observers said was an attempt to pander to China, which brings lots of movie money –and because China does not recognize Taiwan.
The Rolling Stones launched their 60th anniversary European tour in Madrid Wednesday and thrilled the crowd by playing their old hit “Out of Time.” The song was actually recorded in 1966, but never played live, although it was released on the British version of the Stones’ album “Aftermath.” Now people are wondering whether it’ll be added to the band’s set list for the rest of the tour.
It’s here: Pennsylvania has its first confirmed case of monkeypox. So far there are 9 other states with confirmed cases of monkeypox including California, Colorado, Florida, Georgia, Massachusetts, New York, Utah, Virginia, and Washington. The CDC says you get it by person-to-person contact, the develop a fever, and then "develops a rash, often beginning on the face then spreading to other parts of the body." The infection usually lasts two to four weeks.
Some major league baseball players are complaining about their balls. ABC News reports the players say the baseball “feels like mush coming off the bat,” and the pitchers are calling it spongy or even squishy.” However, league officials say there’s nothing different this season, although it might have been a bit muggier in some parks early in the season.
