ABBA’s Bjorn Ulvaeus has told CNBC that the band’s “Voyage” album --their first in 40 years-- will be their last. He said he expects this week’s opening of the ABBA Voyage digital concert will be “so incredibly special” and beat out any other moment in his professional career. The idea for the concert reportedly was to create digital “ABBA-tar” copies of the band from their 1979 prime, in a cutting-edge technology concert. In order to do it, the band dressed up in motion capture suits and performed all their songs in a Swedish studio.
Weather forecasters predict we may have another very active hurricane season this year because of the continuing presence of La Niña. The projections say there’ll be anywhere from 14-21 named storms; 6-10 hurricanes and 3-6 major hurricanes.
With the latest news that the Supreme Court justices are poised to overturn Roe v. Wade, a new poll of Americans by the Marquette Law School shows a majority -- 54% -- now say they disapprove of the job the Supreme Court is doing.
That new Tom Cruise movie, “Top Gun: Maverick,” could pull in $100 million for what looks to be one of the top ten debuts over the 4-day Memorial Day weekend. The other movie opening in wide release is Disney’s “The Bob’s Burgers Movie,” based on the Fox TV animated series.
Run for your lives (NOT!): There’s an enormous asteroid which is four times the size of the Empire State Building and will be passing very close to the Earth in astronomical terms on Friday, May 27. However, NASA says the asteroid will miss the Earth by about 2.5 million miles or about 10 times the distance between Earth and the moon. It’ll be back in 2055 for another pass, but again is not slated to slam into the Earth.
