It's ba-a-aa-ack: The classic children's show, "Fraggle Rock," will be coming to Apple TV+, 33 years after the last series was made. LISA HENSON, the CEO of the Jim Henson Company, says "It's all refreshed, it's all taken up to a slightly newer, modern level, and few tidbits from the past as well." The new show debuts on January 21st.
Biology department: An honor for JEFF DANIELS --the NY Post reports a newly discovered tarantula-killing parasite has been named after Jeff, who --as you may remember-- was the star of the film “Arachnophobia,” and saved a town from tarantulas in the movie. The Tarantobelus jeffdanielsi is a parasitic nematode which kills those tarantulas by immobilizing the appendages around their fangs, basically starving them to their death. Scientists at the University of California at Riverside identified them.
The folks at Oscar Mayer are coming out with a Bologna Mask --and it's not just for Halloween. The company is selling their new Bologna Hydrogel Sheet Face Mask on Amazon, and in case you were wondering --there's no real bologna in the mask. It costs $4.99 and contains Witch Hazel Botanical and seaweed-derived ingredients to protect and hydrate. Plus, collagens to lock in moisture and promote skin elasticity. Unfortunately, the bologna mask fits tightly over your face to provide the benefits, so you can't substitute it for a regular KF94 mask, for example. But it'll be interesting for selfies, of course.
Recall coming: Ford Motor Company says they'll be recalling around 200-thousand 2014 and 2015 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ midsize cars, along with some 2015 Mustangs because the vehicle's brake lights might stay on if one of the brake pedal parts disintegrates because of high temperatures and humidity. Ford is expected to notify you in early March if your model has one of those parts.
Congrats to director SPIKE LEE, who's getting the lifetime achievement award for distinguished achievement in motion picture direction from the Directors Guild of America in the annual awards coming March 12th.
PARAMORE will be doing their first live show in four years at the upcoming When We Were Young Festival in Las Vegas this coming October. MY CHEMICAL ROMANCE, BRING ME THE HORIZON and AVRIL LAVIGNE will also be on the bill for the festival, which is described as an "epic line-up of emo and rock bands from the past two decades."
Look for TYLER PERRY’s latest, "A Madea Homecoming," on Netflix beginning February 25th. the movie is the next installment in the Medea series following 2019’s “Madea’s Family Funeral.” Inside sources say the plot involves Madea's great-grandson’s college graduation, and Entertainment Weekly has reported that it’ll involve an LGBTQ+ storyline.
