‘WEIRD AL’ YANKOVIC is going on tour again. Over the weekend he announced a 133-date ‘Ill-Advised Vanity Tour’ which kicks off in April of next year and includes his first-ever show at Carnegie Hall in New York City. Like his first tour, however, it will reportedly not include some of his more famous parody songs like “Fat,” “Eat It,” and “Smells Like Nirvana” and instead do fan favorites like “Nature Trail to Hell,” “Jackson Park Express,” “Dog Seat Dog,” You Don’t Love Me Anymore,” and “Albuquerque.” And, like his 2017 tour, the opening act will be comedian EMO PHILLIPS. The tour dates are at WeirdAl.com; tickets go on sale this Friday, December 10th.
As you know, Broadway legend STEPHEN SONDHEIM passed away November 26th at the age of 91, and this Wednesday, December 8th, at 6:30 pm, Broadway theaters will dim their lights for one-minute to honor the famous composer. Some of his shows he did the music for during his nearly 65-year career included "Gypsy," "West Side Story," "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum," "Sweeney Todd," "Sunday in the Park with George," and many others.
If you're a fan of former President DONALD TRUMP, you'll probably want to pick up his new social media app, called "Truth Social," when it comes out early next year. That's because Trump has been banned from Twitter and Facebook after the attack on the US Capitol this past January. It's the first of three new products from Trump Media; the next one will be a subscription video-on-demand service called TMTG-plus, which will feature entertainment, news and podcasts.
JAMES BOND will be back. At a weekend event, producer BARBARA BROCCOLI announced that despite apparently being killed in an explosion at the end of the most recent Bond film, “No Time to Die,” the iconic British super spy will be returning. No word from her about whether DANIEL CRAIG, who's played Bond in the last five movies, will also return as 007, but as the movie was released, he gave interviews saying he was finished with the character. So who would be great as the new Bond?
Who do you believe giving you the news on TV? A new Hollywood Reporter/Morning Consult poll surveyed Americans for the most trusted (and least trusted) news anchors. NBC Nightly News host LESTER HOLT was the most trusted anchor, trusted “a lot” by 32 percent of respondents and “some” by 30 percent. ABC News anchor DAVID MUIR (had 28 percent of folks trusting him “a lot”) and "Good Morning America" co-host ROBIN ROBERTS (wound up with 28 percent). The Recording Industry Association of America has announced that MARIAH CAREY’s 1994 Christmas hit “All I Want for Christmas Is You” is now the first holiday song to sell at least 10 million units, giving it a "diamond" status. The song was released 27 years ago, but continues to make news during the holiday season when it's played by radio stations and people buy it or download it to play at home.
CNN announced Saturday that anchor CHRIS CUOMO was "terminated" by the network on Saturday, "effective immediately," following an investigation by an outside law firm which found that Chris had aided his brother, former NY Gov. ANDREW CUOMO, when he was accused of sexual harassment.
Souvenir department: HENRY WINKLER is auctioning off some of his "Happy Days" items this coming Wednesday at Bonhams auction house in Los Angeles. Among the costumes, props and other memorabilia are his Levi's jeans, white T-shirt, black engineer boots and, of course, the iconic leather jacket, which is expected to sell for between $50-$80-thousand dollars. That leather jacket is not the only one he wore in the show, by the way. He wore at least seven during the filming, and one of them is already in the Smithsonian Museum in Washington, D.C. His silver Triumph motorcycle used in the show is also on the auction block and expected to go for $80-120-thousand dollars as well.
