No matter who you work for, it must be nice to work for Spanx --the company that makes pantyhose and underwear for women. Because Spanx CEO SARA BLAKELY gave all her employees $10-grand and a pair of first class tickets to travel anywhere in the world when an asset management company bought a majority stake in Spanx and valued it at $1.2 million dollars. Ever work for anybody like that? Don't you wish you had?
There's a new law proposed in Australia that would ban children and teens under 16 years old from social media platforms such as Facebook, dating sites like Bumble, video-gaming platforms, video-conferencing services and online messaging platforms such as Zoom or WhatsApp until they get their parent's permission. The move would help protect the teens’ personal information, along with protection for children and vulnerable groups as well.
Movie news: actor BRENDAN FRASER has been cast as the villain in the upcoming movie, "Batgirl." LESLIE GRACE will play the heroine --Barbara Gordon, the daughter of the police commissioner-- while Brendan gets to light things up as the character "Firefly."
Tube talk: ABC sez that the remake of the 1988 sitcom, "The Wonder Years," featuring a Black family this time, has picked up an order for nine more episodes to add to the current season. The show airs Wednesday nights at 8:30 on ABC.
Problems for that series about comedienne JOAN RIVERS, called “The Comeback Girl.” Variety reports producers have not been able to get the rights to Joan's life, which are held by her daughter, MELISSA. That would mean writers and producers would not be able to use any of Joan’s jokes or catchphrases in the series.
The JONAS BROTHERS will be getting roasted in upcoming Netflix comedy special. The NY Post reports NICK, KEVIN and JOE will be roasted by PETE DAVIDSON, NIALL HORAN, GABRIEL “Fluffy” IGLESIAS, JOHN LEGEND and LILLY SINGH on November 23rd with host KENAN THOMPSON.
Fast food: Arby’s is rolling out a new Caramel Cinnamon shake topped with whipped cream to the menu at participating locations nationwide for a limited time. In case you're wondering: 580 Calories and 330 mg of sodium.
FYI: I will be taking a week off for a trip to Las Vegas for a wedding from Wednesday the 27th through Halloween (Oct 31).
