Ch-ch-changes: As you probably know, KANYE WEST had applied to change his name to simply "Ye," and yesterday a judge in LA granted his request. In an interview back nearly three years ago, he said "I believe 'ye' is the most commonly used word in the Bible, and in the Bible it means you. So it's I'm you, I'm us, it's us," he said.
Actor HARRISON FORD is back on the set of the fifth “Indiana Jones” movie, which can restart production after several months of downtime as a result of Ford's severe injury while shooting a fight scene back in June. The movie was originally scheduled to be in theatres this past July, but because of the injury Disney has pushed it back to June of 2023.
Sick bay: CELINE DION, whose new Las Vegas show at Resorts World Theater has been delayed because of reported severe and persistent muscle spasms which are affecting her rehearsals. The opening date was supposed to be November 5th, but she's cancelled her planned performances between January 19th and February 5th as well at this point.
COVID news, take one: TRAVIS TRITT has reportedly cancelled shows at venues requiring masks, proof of COVID-19 vaccinations or a negative COVID test. Travis told the Nashville Tennessean "This is a sacrifice that I’m willing to make to stand up for the freedoms that generations of Americans have enjoyed for their entire lifetimes." He's said previously that he's been vocal against mandates from the beginning and supports people who are "taking a firm stand" against them.
COVID news, take two: Southwest Airlines has bagged their plan to put unvaccinated workers with pending exemptions on unpaid leave after their December 8th deadline to get a vaccine. Both Southwest and American airlines have required their newly hired employees to show proof of Covid-19 vaccination before their first day.
More movie news: The folks at Disney have put a bunch of Marvel films, including the next Doctor Strange, Thor, Ant Man and Black Panther movies on hold for several months next year. Disney also has moved the fifth “Indiana Jones” installment back nearly a year to mid-2023 as well.
Tube talk, take one: Look for MEL GIBSON to star in the “John Wick” prequel series “The Continental” at Starz. Variety says the film will take place in the hotel --which is basically home for assassins.
Tube Two: A brand-new documentary focusing on how CAROLE KING and JAMES TAYLOR teamed up is being produced for CNN, and will reportedly also be streamed on HBO Max as well.
Even more TV: Deadline reports UMA THURMAN will star as ARIANNA HUFFINGTON in the upcoming Showtime anthology series called "Super Pumped." JOSEPH GORDON-LEVITT and KYLE CHANDLER will co-star as well in the series.
Halloween update: CNN reports kids will be wearing outfits inspired by Netflix's "Squid Game" for Halloween parties everywhere. The obvious news was reinforced by websites which show searches for "Squid Game costume" are outnumbering searches for other film and TV character costumes.
Like you really care: Macy's department stores in Chicago, New York, and San Francisco say SANTA CLAUS will be back again this year in person to meet children and hear their holiday toy requests after skipping last holiday season due to COVID-19 restrictions. There is a caveat --if you want your child to meet the big guy, you've gotta make an appointment, and wear a mask. No word on whether Santa will be wearing one as well.
Fast food: Taco Bell is bringing back its breakfast menu at nearly all of its restaurants nationwide, and to celebrate they will be offering a free Toasted Breakfast Burrito tomorrow from 7 to 11 am --Thursday, October 21st. You'll be able to pick from their Cheesy Toasted Breakfast Burrito, Hash Brown Toasted Breakfast Burrito and Grande Toasted Breakfast Burrito.
