BRITNEY SPEARS reportedly will be hanging her microphone up and won't be performing again after getting released from her father's conservatorship controls. The website TMZ reports performing is no longer a priority for Britney, whose manager, LARRY RUDOLPH, has said she wanted to "officially retire." During her conservatorship trial, she told the court she felt "enslaved" by her father, saying "In California, the only similar thing to this is called sex trafficking, making anyone work against their will, taking all their possessions away: credit card, phone, passport."
COVID update: The folks at Johnson & Johnson will be looking to get authorization for their COVID-19 booster shot this week. The New York Times reports the company says the booster --for ages 18 and older-- is 71% protective against COVID-19.
The Hollywood Reporter says ELTON JOHN, SHAKIRA, RINGO STARR, CLAUDIA SCHIFFER and JULIO IGLESIAS have all been named in the Pandora Papers which were published over the weekend. If you're a subscriber to Playboy's digital magazine, you may be a bit taken aback by the cover of the October issue, featuring BRETMAN ROCK, a 23-year-old male social media influencer originally from the Philippines. He's dressed up in women's lingerie and heels, with a bowtie and bunny ears. And he's not the first male to ever grace the cover --of course, HUGH HEFNER himself was on the cover, and singer-songwriter BENITO ANTONIO MARTÍNEZ OCASIO, better known as BAD BUNNY, was also on last summer.
Weather: Over in the Middle East, a hurricane-strength storm named Cyclone Shaheen has made landfall in the Gulf of Oman. It's the first hurricane in recorded history to make landfall in Oman, where the average *annual* rainfall is just four inches worth. So this hurricane could produce five years worth of rain in just a few days.
We're just a week away from next Tuesday's flight by JEFF BEZOS' Blue Origin New Shepard NS-18 rocket ship. As you've probably heard, it'll be a short trip into space --around 11 minutes-- but it's going to carry "Star Trek" actor WILLIAM SHATNER this time, making him --at 90-- the oldest person to ever go into space.
