Millionaire one: Would you date ELON MUSK if he asked you to go out? He and Canadian musician GRIMES have split after three years together --calling it a “Semi” separation-- and say they will still co-parent their 1-year-old son X Æ A-Xii MUSK (Yes, that's his name, pronounced "Ex Ash A Twelve" or "Ex Ay Eye," and they call him "Baby X" for short). Elon is 17 years oler than she is, and they claim to still care for each other and visit each other often (She lives in LA and he works for Tesla and SpaceX in Texas). Musk was previously married to author JUSTINE WILSON, with whom he has five sons: twins GRIFFIN and XAVIER, who are 17, and triplets DAMIAN, SAXON and KAI, who are 15.
In case you didn't know: GRIMES' birth name is CLAIRE BOUCHER.
Millionaire two: In case you hadn't heard: "Star Trek" star WILLIAM SHATNER, now 90 years old, will become the oldest man to ever fly to space. JEFF BEZOS will be taking him into space with him for a 15-minute flight in October. No word yet on whether Shatner is paying to fly into space --the cost of the last seat back in July was auctioned off for $20 million-- or whether it's a publicity stunt for Bezos and Captain James T. Kirk who might boldly go where no 90-year-old man has ever gone before.
Movies: Too bad “Dear Evan Hansen,” didn't do as well on the big screen as it did on Broadway. The film version just picked up $7.5 million in the first weekend and cost $28 million to produce. It as beaten by “Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings” which made $13.3 million despite being in its fourth week. Disney’s sci-fi comedy “Free Guy” pulled in $4.1 million for third place, followed by the slasher film, “Candyman,” with $2.5 million and CLINT EASTWOOD’s Western “Cry Macho” in fifth.
What would you pay to live in the Rhode Island house used in ‘The Conjuring’ film? How about $1.2 million? The house is not exactly new --it was built back in 1836, and it was the real, three bedroom home that the PERRON family lived and had almost 10 years of intense paranormal activity in the 1970s.
Anchors away: It's not just cars that are having problems getting parts because of the Coronavirus --there are dozens of cargo ships clogging up ports on both sides of the United States because of shortages in the staffs to unload them on both coasts.
Cruise news: Looks like the cruise ship business is back. Princess Cruises announced over the weekend that they'll launch their first cruise ship since the start of the pandemic out of Los Angeles headed to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico, for a five-day cruise. There are some COVID changes --everybody has to be tested and show proof of full vaccination and they will only carry up to 75-percent of the passengers.
Carnival cruise lines also announced that bookings for the second half of next year are running ahead of 2019 levels, which should help them stave off bankruptcy. Management says eight of Carnival’s nine cruise lines have resumed sailing with reduced schedules, and the company is looking to resume operating the full fleet by next summer.
