Tube news: The 93rd Oscars are Sunday night. “Nomadland” is expected to be the leading film winner with four Oscars including best picture followed by “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom” with three --including one for CHADWICK BOSEMAN (who died last August of cancer at just 43). He's expected to win Best Actor. Best Actress will probably go to FRANCES McDORMAND, of “Nomadland,” although VIOLA DAVIS, from “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom,” also has a shot.
Fast food: HBO Max has picked up a six-part TV series from LISA LING called “Take Out,” which explores America’s Asian restaurants and the folks who run them in order to “celebrate the joy that the little white take-out box can bring.”
More tube news: Netflix is putting together a show called “The Hype House” --a reality series about a bunch of digital influencers in Los Angeles that have more than 120-million followers on TikTok. The influencers all live in the same house and live and work online --both together and separately.
Docu-drama: CHER has a new documentary coming out --about a four-year elephant rescue mission! You can see "Cher & the Loneliest Elephant" streaming on Paramount+ and follow her journey to save and protect a 36-year-old elephant named Kaavan from captivity in Pakistan last November. She heard about the poor elephant and released a song and then co-founded an animal rights organization, called "Free the Wild." Then, she wanted to meet him and flew to Pakistan, where she was able to feed him watermelon and serenade him with FRANK SINATRA's "My Way."
The NY Post reports that none other than SNOOP DOGG is claiming he once smoked weed with former President BARACK OBAMA in his new album called “From Tha Streets 2 Tha Suites.” In the song, “Gang Signs,” he sings “Still sippin’ gin and juice while I’m smoking marijuana / I bet you never blew with Obama.” Snoop has also claimed on an episode of his online series that he smoked a blunt in the White House bathroom.
Musicality: The DAVE MATTHEWS BAND has rescheduled its 2021 tour dates. Find out HERE: https://www.jambase.com/article/dave-matthews-band-2021-tour-dates
Passing: Sorry to hear that former BAY CITY ROLLERS frontman LES McKEOWN died on Tuesday. No word on the cause. He was just 65. Some of the Rollers more famous tracks included "I Only Wanna Be With You," "Bye Bye Baby" and Give a Little Love.
