Looks like Universal Pictures and Pixar will be going head-to-animated-head over Thanksgiving weekend as they both release full-length movies --the toon “Soul” on November 20th and “The Croods: A New Age” on November 25th, a month ahead of schedule. Also coming on November 20th --the 25th and latest James Bond flick, “No Time to Die.” That'll be up against two other Sony films, “The Happiest Season” romantic comedy and the sci-fi film, “Voyagers.” The question, of course, is "will Americans go back to the movies in the middle of social distancing from COVID-19?"
"Saturday Night Live" has announced part of its cast for the coming 46th season --and JIM CARREY will be taking over the role of JOE BIDEN from former “SNL” cast member JASON SUDEIKIS on the season premiere October 3rd. ALEC BALDWIN, will return as President DONALD TRUMP, and former cast-member MAYA RUDOLPH, will be back to play Biden’s VP candidate, KAMALA HARRIS.
How much would you pay for a plastic crown worn by the rapper NOTORIOUS B.I.G. during his “King of New York” photoshoot? It cost him a grand total of $6 when he bought it before the March 1997 photo shoot, but somebody shelled out $595-thousand dollars to buy it Tuesday night at Sotheby’s first-ever hip-hop memorabilia auction. It *was* autographed by B.I.G., and came with a photo of him wearing it, which obviously added to the value.
The season premiere of “South Park” will be special in a couple of ways --first of all, it'll be the only hour-long episode in the 23-years the series has been on. It's also going to be all about the COVID-19 pandemic, and we can only guess who'll get infected on the show --and whether they'll survive.
Speaking of COVID-19, have you ever run out of masks to wear for social distancing when you're headed out the door? In England, the BBC reports a man was spotted using a live snake as a makeshift face mask while he rode a public bus. In their Twitter post on September 15th, @mancmapper posted what looked to be a rather large, three and a half or four-foot-long snake wrapped around his neck. “No one batted an eyelid,” the passenger said, thinking at first it was simply a “funky mask” until the reptile started slithering over the handrails. As another reader noted, “It certainly ensures physical distancing!” Needless to say, authorities noted that a snake is not a proper face covering during the pandemic.
