Fast food news #1: The folks at Oscar Meyer are offering free rentals of their 27-foot-long hot dog on wheels for marriage proposals. But... you'll need to sign up in advance, and there are a lot of dates already booked, so you oughta go online to sign up for a date that isn't already taken. Head here.
And you can see it now --a ring on that weenie, right? PS: There's more than one wienermobile --at last count, Oscar Meyer had 11, six of which are full-sized models-- so you might get lucky.
Fast food news #2: the big rumor yesterday was that Red Lobster and soda manufacturer PepsiCo have put together the first official Mountain Dew margarita cocktail. Called the (wait for it...) "Dew Garita", it'll reportedly consist of tequila, Mountain Dew and a "few other special ingredients," so you'll be able to pair it with Red Lobster’s iconic Cheddar Bay Biscuits. Look for it in the restaurants sometime this month.
Fast food news #3: The people who manufacture Peeps marshmallow candies say they won't be making any of their marshmallow treats until Easter 2021, thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic. However, the good news is that they may be selling Peeps (along with their other products, Mike and Ikes and Hot Tamales) through their online store. Head to Justborn.com for details.
Fast food news #4: the hot rumor yesterday was that the candy manufacturers at Reeses may be releasing a new type of Reese’s Big Cup stuffed with a combination of peanut butter and potato chips. The news first was outlined on the Instagram account JunkFoodLeaks. But there's been no word from the folks at Reeses, yet.
Coronavirus warning: The folks up in Connecticut have said they'll start issuing $100 fines to people who refuse to wear masks to help curb the spread of Covid-19. The governor there --NED LAMONT-- says the fines begin tomorrow (Thursday) at midnight. The governor also said there'll be a $250 fine for attending indoor events with more than 25 people or large outdoor gatherings with more than 100 people. And people who organize such events could wind up with a $500 fine.
Global warming note: The folks up in Greenland say a huge chunk of their ice cap has broken off up in the far northeastern Arctic --a 42.3 square mile piece, to be exact. Scientists say the breakup is more evidence of rapid climate change.
Apple rolled out its new products yesterday. No new iPhone yet, but the Series 6 and the SE Apple watches along with two new iterations of iPads (iPad Air and iPad Pro). As we noted Monday, it looks like the new iPhones (with 5G ability) will be out shortly, but are still being tweaked.
CBS All Access is gonna be renamed early next year. Insiders say the streaming service will be called ParamountPlus and continue to program BET, Comedy Central, MTV, Nickelodeon and the Smithsonian Channel, along with some other Viacom networks.
