Movie news: OLIVIA WILDE, who co-starred on "House" and was in a bunch of films, is now a director, with her film "Booksmart." Now, she's decided to direct an upcoming movie about a female superhero. Could possibly be "Spiderwoman" but nobody's talking yet. And Variety says they're going to resume shooting “The Batman” movie early next month in England. They were forced to stop in Early March when the pandemic hit, but now they're apparently going to finish the last three months of shooting.
The ROLLING STONES are going commercial, opening a "flagship" store --where else-- on London’s Carnaby Street. The band released a statement saying “Soho has always encapsulated rock & roll so #9 Carnaby Street was the perfect spot for our own store,” and said the store will feature “exclusive new fashion and merchandise” including:
-
--special glassware engraved with the Rolling Stones tongue
--fashion and accessories like chairs and scarves from the Soloist
--raincoats and hats from Swedish brand Stutterheim
--and of course the Stone’s albums and singles.
Fast food dep't: The folks at Hardee’s are reportedly testing a new, all-beef Biscuit Double Cheeseburger for a limited time, but you'll have to be in Little Rock, Arkansas or Nashville, Tennessee. It'll go for $2.99 and you'll get 530 calories or so.
The folks at Lyft suspended operations in California last night because of a law which said the ride-hailing service must classify its drivers as employees. The law goes for Uber as well, but no response from them --yet-- on the requirement. Lyft management said most drivers did not want to be employees and that following the law would lead to 80-percent of their drivers losing work.
Sick bay: Best wishes for Dr. ANTHONY FAUCI, who had vocal cord surgery yesterday (Thursday) to remove a polyp from his vocal cords. A polyp on the vocal cords is not necessarily a sign the patient has cancer, and usually occurs from straining vocal cords from too much talking, singing or... yelling. After the surgery, most patients must rest their vocal cords and not speak for a week, and then talk softly for several more weeks to recover. We'll see if Fauci, who's 79, follows those reccomendations.
