Whoops! There's a big fundraising event in the UK called "Couch-ella" --but not any more, since lawyers for the huge music festival Coachella sent a cease and desist letter to them. Turns out the folks at Coachella have trademarked the phrase "chella" so nobody can use it as part of their name. Now the UK charity has changed the name to "MS Trust Home Festival," which will take place online on August 22nd.
Mark your calendars --with events being moved thanks to the problems with coronavirus, the folks at the 78th annual Golden Globes announced it will be held on Sunday, Feb. 28, 2021. Announcement of the nominations will be given at 5 a.m. (Pacific) on February 3rd, 2021.
And moviegoers will love this --Regal Cinemas, the nation’s second largest cinema chain, says they will start to reopen their locations in the United States on August 21st.
TV update: CBS All Access says “Star Trek Discovery” Season 3 will premiere Oct. 15 on the streaming service. And OPRAH WINFREY is reportedly putting together a new interview show at Apple TV+ called (wait for it...) “The Oprah Conversation.” That show, which will be filmed remotely (like a Zoom meeting) will premiere Thursday, July 30 at 4 p.m. (Pacific) with the show “How to Be an Antiracist,” featuring Oprah's guest, author Professor IBRAM X. KENDI.
Other stuff: Congrats to "The Little Mermaid" composer ALAN MENKEN, who picked up a Daytime Emmy and now becomes a member of the rare EGOT club --people who've received an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony.
Like you really care: Congrats to SOPHIE TURNER and JOE JONAS who officially welcomed their first child --a baby girl named WILLA-- on Wednesday, July 22, at a Los Angeles-area hospital. The couple confirmed the news yesterday although the rumors had been spreading for awhile.
