See ya: the folks who run the CHUCK E. CHEESE pizza franchises have filed for bankruptcy after 43 years of business. The folks said that they'd been having problems before the coronavirus shutdowns, but that was the last straw for the restaurants. So far there are 266 Chuck E. Cheese and Peter Piper Pizza restaurants that have reopened so far.
Black Lives Matter update: In a pretty cool move, NASA says it will rename its D.C. headquarters after MARY W. JACKSON — she was the first Black female engineer in the space program. She was the engineer played by JANELLE MONAE in the movie, “Hidden Figures.” Mary --who was originally a mathematician-- began in NASA's research division, at the Langley Research Center, then was moved to NASA's engineering division, where she worked for 34 years before willingly taking a demotion so that she could work in the Federal Women’s Program and Affirmative Action Program to promote the hiring of women and minorities at NASA. She died in 2005 and was posthumously awarded the Congressional Gold Medal in 2019.
Black Lives Matter update number 2: In kind of a LADY ANTEBELLUM move, the DIXIE CHICKS have changed their name to simply THE CHICKS. The name is also used by a band from New Zealand, who said they could share it. Obviously, the name Dixie belongs to the southern states which made up the Confederacy in the Civil War.
