Sorry to hear that another US Navy ship, the destroyer USS Kidd, has also had a coronavirus outbreak like the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt.
NBC News reports the Kidd is off the Pacific coast of Central America, where it has been operating as part of a U.S. counter-drug mission. Navy officials say at least 18 members of the crew have tested positive and it expects the number to grow.
If you've ever been aboard a Navy vessel, you'll realize the crew quarters are not rooms, except for the officers. Enlisted men sleep in bunks in relatively common spaces --easy for an aerosol virus to spread in.
Meanwhile, the New York Times reports US Navy officials have recommended that the Theodore Roosevelt's Captain, BRETT CROZIER, who was relieved a couple of weeks ago from his command for sending an email about the coronavirus outbreak on his ship, be reinstated to command of the carrier.
New info from investment analysts say the folks at Disney will probably not reopen their theme parks, including Disneyland in Anaheim or Walt Disney World in Florida until January 01. But even when the theme parks do reopen their gates, their attendance will likely only be half of what it was in 2019. The one factor in increasing park attendance --the development of a vaccine. Even then, there may be more restrictions for park admission, perhaps including temperature checks.
Latest reports from Japan claim North Korean dictator KIM JONG UN is in a 'vegetative state' ...and it's not because of coronavirus. Kim has reportedly had heart problems, collapsed during a visit to a rural area in April and in a vegetative state following a stent procedure following the incident. A Japanese tabloid claims the surgeon in charge of Kim’s operation was not used to dealing with obese patients and was too nervous during the operation, leading to delays that left Kim in a “vegetative state.”
And if he can't rule, rumors are already circulating about his sister, KIM YO JONG, being his most likely successor. She's believed to be a few years younger than her brother and reportedly shares his secrecy and penchant for lashing out against political adversaries. If it happens, she would be North Korea’s first female ruler since her grandfather, KIM IL-SUNG, founded the nation in 1948.
Meanwhile, some people need those beauty regimens they can't get because of COVID closures. Beaumont, Texas mayor BECKY AMES is reportedly one of those. She was photographed last Tuesday wearing a face mask as she visited The Nail Bar, which should have been closed down --but apparently opened just for her.
Ames offered a “heartfelt apology” for what she dismissed as a “lapse in judgment... I should never have entered the salon last Tuesday. I did not intend to take personal privilege while asking others to sacrifice and for that I am truly remorseful... I am honestly sorry and I pray that you will forgive me,” she said.
The New York Post reports a customer filed a class-action lawsuit against SeatGeek last week, claiming the company rescinded it’s money-back guarantee after the coronavirus pandemic forced the worldwide cancellation of live events.
BILL TRADER apparently purchased a couple of tickets to a DEAD & COMPANY concert in Chicago this summer which was cancelled thanks to the COVID crisis. And SeatGeek refused to return his money.
