Sorry to hear HONOR BLACKMAN has passed away at 94. She was the British actress who played Pussy Galore in the JAMES BOND film, "Goldfinger." She also played Cathy Gale in the 1960s TV series, "The Avengers," with PATRICK MACNEE. She reportedly passed away from natural causes.
Meanwhile, the character Pussy Galore is coming back to the James Bond series in the latest novel in the series, "Trigger Mortis." Written by ANTHONY HOROWITZ, the new novel begins in 1957, two weeks after the end of IAN FLEMING's "Goldfinger." Look for it in bookstores in early September.
Horowitz is also the author of two other official James Bond novels, "The House of Silk" and "Moriarty."
While we're on the author beat, some sad news --"Harry Potter" author J.K. ROWLING has apparently been diagnosed with coronavirus, since she shared on Twitter yesterday that although she hasn't been tested, she's had all of the symptoms over the past two weeks, including respiratory problems, and is now “fully recovered.”
Add Xerox to the companies switching over their production lines to make ventilators. The company says they plan to make from 150-thousand to 200-thousand devices called Go2Vents, which are used primarily by first responders in emergency situations. They hope the inexpensive, disposable ventilators could serve as a critical stopgap for the hospital-grade ventilators now in short supply.
The Go2Vent equipment is already FDA approved, has been on the market for years, doesn’t require electricity and is relatively inexpensive. It is used with a compressor and in theory could provide ventilator-type support for up to 30 days.
