Not gonna happen: DAVID CROSBY took some quality time over the weekend to ask his former bandmate, ROGER McGUINN, to get the BYRDS back together. He tweeted "Want to do a couple of Byrds dates? I'll just sing harmony. No talking?"
Unfortunately for fans, McGuinn didn't bother to tweet back, and later a rep for McGuinn wrote "Neither Roger or CHRIS (HILLMAN) entertain the idea of a Byrds reunion. Roger was just tired of David crying about being hated. DC is not hated but that doesn't mean anyone wants to work with him."
In the past McGuinn has told people --including Rolling Stone magazine-- why he wasn't interested, saying "I'm happy with the Byrds as a good memory."
Check, please.Disney has announced the casting for Ariel in its upcoming live TV musical, "The Little Mermaid," and (drumroll, please), it'll be AULI'I CRAVALHO. That's pretty cool casting, since Auli'i is half native Hawaiian and also has Puerto Rican, Portuguese, Chinese, and Irish ancestry as well --not exactly the all-white casting Disney has become known for. In another sidestep, they've also said QUEEN LATIFAH will play the sea witch Ursula, and SHAGGY will play Ariel's crab pal, Sebastian. The live production will air live in front of a studio audience on Nov 05. This year is the 30th since the original movie aired in 1989.
As long as we're talking about old movies, let's take some time to mention that the KEANU REEVES' sci-fi classic, "The Matrix," will be coming back to theatres for a week-long celebration of its 20th anniversary, from Aug 30 to Sep 05 in 135 Dolby Cinema AMC theaters around the country.
Duck! UPS announced yesterday that they've submitted an application to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to operate commercial delivery drones in the US. And it won't be the first company to use drones for delivery. That honor went to Wing, a subsidiary of Google's parent company, Alphabet, which got its FAA approval in April.
So, given the fact that it may take several months to get approval from the FAA, we could potentially see drones delivering Christmas presents this winter on your block.
Of course, that also means they'll have to solve the problem of "Porch Pirates" --those people who steal packages off doorsteps in urban areas. -
