That CBS show, "God Friended Me," has been renewed by CBS for another season. The Sunday night show stars Brandon Micheal Hall, Violett Beane, Suraj Sharma, and is about an athiest with a video blog who finds that somebody named God --or maybe it *is* God-- friends him on Facebook.
While we're on the TV topic, congrats to KAL PENN on getting a new comedy series at NBC. He'll play a NYC councilman who finds his real calling when he finds six recent immigrants in search of the American Dream and who need his help.
In movie news, if you didn't catch the movie "Black Panther" in theatres, Disney is putting it back in theatres for a week beginning Friday to celebrate Black History Month at 250 participating AMC locations. And... you get in for free to either of the two showings a day. Variety says Disney is also shelling out a $1.5 million grant to support the United Negro College Fund as well!
Remake Dep't, take one: Look for CHANNING TATUM to star in a remake of "Splash." But instead of finding a mermaid in the comedy... he's playing the, well, Mer-man in the film, with JILLIAN BELL, who was his co-star on "22 Jump Street" as the lucky girl who catches him in her net.
Remake Dep't, take two: He's coming back! The folks who did those creepy "Child's Play" movies with that little doll called Chucky are now putting together a TV series starring the little monster for the SYFY network. DON MANCINI, who wrote all seven films (yes, there were that many!) will be the writer and executive producer for the series, which is gonna be called (wait for it...) "Chucky."
