Halloween Costumes:
The National Retail Federation's out with its list of Halloween costumes you'll see on goblins of all sizes and shapes. For children, the top three costumes this year are Batman characters and superheroes, a princess (out of the top spot this year) and various animals. (By the way, Princess was the top costume for the last 11 out of the last 12 years, the NRF says.)
For adults, the top costume for adults is once again a witch, after being replaced by Batman last year. This year a Batman character or villain is number two, followed by one of a number of various animals. Those politically-inspired costumes (i.e., Trump, Hillary, etc) from last year have been shelved.
Top three pet costumes are a pumpkin, hot dog, and a pirate or lion, according to the NRF survey.Sucking the life out of the wire services:
SYLVESTER STALLONE fans have the opportunity of a lifetime to buy a piece of almost-Hollywood history. The backup sculpture of Rocky Balboa from "Rocky III" is up for sale to the highest bidder at SCP Auctions. The work of art stands 12-feet tall, weighs in at 1,800 pounds and the boxer is featured in the "classic contrapposto pose." A rep for the auction house tells TMZ they expect it to sell for a cool $500-thousand dollars to one-million-dollars; as of press time, the highest bid is $60,500.(Lee)
Your Body:
If you're able to walk just 10 minutes a day, you can reduce the risk of an early death, according to a new study out from the American Cancer Society. CBS says the study of more than 139-thousand older men and women found they could average a 21 percent lower risk of premature death --even if they only averaged one hour of walking per week-- the recommended amount is two hours per week. And it wasn't power walking. The average mile in the study group took 20 minutes. (Bartha)
