Stars and their movies:
LEE DANIELS is getting a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame this morning at 11:30 am (Pacific).
The star, in the TV category, is located at 6533 Hollywood Boulevard in front of the Hudson Apartments. Actress GABOUREY SIDIBE will be helping unveil the star.
Lee's career is highlighted by his movies, "Precious: based on the novel Push by Sapphire," which was nominated for six Academy Awards, and "Lee Daniels' The Butler," along with his hit FOX TV series, "Empire." He also has a new series, "Star," premiering Dec 14; about an all-girl singing group (played by RYAN DESTINY, JUDE DEMOREST and BRITTANY O'GRADY) who despite their trials and inner demons, become (wait for it...) stars. QUEEN LATIFAH plays their hair-salon godmother. On, off and way-off-Broadway:
Ticket-Bots may soon be outlawed. The Washington Post says the U.S. Senate unanimously approved the BOTS Act of 2016 on Wednesday. If the House of Representatives agrees, it will then be illegal to use computer programs to buy up all the tickets for Broadway shows, concerts and sporting events. New York Senator CHARLES SCHUMER said (quote), "These bots have gotten completely out of control and their dominance in the market is denying countless fans access to shows and concerts and driving prices through the roof. This legislation will finally crack down on online hackers and scalpers that use 'bots' to purchase thousands of tickets in a matter of milli-seconds, and then sell them at outrageously-inflated prices." Lowering expectations:
A West Virginia man is going to great lengths to keep prostitutes away.
JEFFERY BLANKENSHIP says ladies of the night walk in front of his house at all hours of the day and night. So, he put up several "No Trespassing" signs. But, he didn't stop there. Blankenship added a sign that reads: "Attention prostitutes... Do not walk by this house 1000x a day waving your hand." Blankenship says he also set up surveillance cameras and plans to forward evidence of illegal activity to the police. The disgruntled resident also claims he'll be moving out of the area in the next year. (Still)Saturday:
