Fashion Emergency:
Women are now boycotting IVANKA TRUMP's fashion collection --and the stores that sell it. Under the hashtag #GrabYourWallet, the boycott campaign calls on women to vote with their wallets and not buy from Ivanka Trump's collection. San Francisco digital strategist SHANNON COULTER launched the campaign. Yahoo News says Coulter used to support Ivanka as an entrepreneur, but after the now-infamous "Access Hollywood" tape came out --where GOP presidential nominee (sigh) DONALD TRUMP bragged about his ability to "grab" women's bodies because he is "a star"-- she said she'd had enough and could no longer excuse Ivanka for defending her father. Coulter said, "It's not enough to buy Ivanka's collection. She campaigns for him. We should avoid stores that carry it."
Now Coulter is leading the charge not just by promoting the boycott, but by challenging every retailer that sells the Ivanka Trump Collection. That's a pretty big list, including T.J. Maxx, Amazon.com, Zappos, Bloomingdale's, Lord & Taylor, Neiman Marcus, Nordstrom, Dillard's, DSW, Macy's, Marshall's, and Saks Off Fifth. Coulter herself has more than 14-thousand Twitter followers and more than a million people have viewed her posts since she launched the boycott campaign two weeks ago. According to Forbes,Ivanka Trump's fashion and accessories empire is estimated to be worth $100 million dollars.
More on the Ivanka Trump boycott: In an interview with Cosmopolitan,Coulter elaborated on why she thinks Ivanka Trump should be held accountable for her father's actions. She said that for a while, women were content to "give Ivanka a pass because she's his daughter and it's hard to be objective about your dad. But the Trump tape sent people over the edge. I think [women] took particular offense, as I did, to the fact that Ivanka tries to make feminism a part of her brand but is standing by, as an official campaign surrogate, a guy who is an alleged serial sexual assaulter of women. The disconnect was too big. And they were ready to speak up about it and flex their consumer power about it."
Macy's severed its relationship with Donald Trump when he launched his campaign in 2015, citing his assertion that Mexican's are "rapists." In an interview with The Guardian, Coulter noted that Macy's continues to sell Ivanka Trump's collection. (Bartha)Pilot news:
Another day, another remake in the works.
This time it's "Knight Rider," which originally starred DAVID HASSELHOFF and his talking car, KITT, from 1982-86. There was also a one-season remake in 2008, which starred JUSTIN BRUENING in the Hoff's role and VAL KILMER as the voice of KITT, replacing WILLIAM DANIELS.
Now Varietysays producer-director JUSTIN LIN --who's done "Star Trek Beyond" and the "Fast & Furious" films-- will be directing the series which will go on the digital network, called Machinima, sometime next year.
FYI:Machinima was one of the first YouTube multichannel networks, specializing in sci-fi and gaming fandom culture.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
YOKO ONO has taken "life imitating art" to a whole new level. Remember the "Simpsons" episode from 1993, "Homer's Barbershop Quartet" when a Yoko-like character sits at the bar at Moe's Tavern and orders a (quote) "single plum, floating in perfume, served in a mans hat?" Pitchfork.com says that in a recent exhibit at the Reykjavik Art Museum called "Yoko Ono: One More Story...," an artist named RAGNAR KJARTANSSON actually put that sentence together into a work of art! Clearly, Yoko is a "Simpsons" fan and liked the joke. (Marino)
Lowering expectations:
Yes, even driving a lawn mower while you're drinking can land you a DUI.
Twenty-two-year-old SAMUEL L WILSON of Connersville, Indiana, was arrested for doing just that, with his son, who's five, riding on the mower as well ...when it suddenly stalled. He asked neighbor SCOTT McPHEETERS, an off-duty state trooper, for a tow, but McPheeters offered instead to call someone to help him and his kid get home safe --he called for backup and that's when Wilson pulled a knife on him. Wilson was arrested and the boy was released to his mother. (Myers) -
