Human Nature:
Snapping a selfie does not "ruin the moment." In fact, taking pictures of everyday activities can actually help make people enjoy the things they are doing even more. New research from the University of Southern California found that people who take pictures of their experiences --regardless of the activity-- had a better time overall when compared with people who didn't take photos of their experiences --and that picture-taking can actually "heighten enjoyment of positive experiences." LiveScience.com says photos and selfies were only found to be a drag when the camera was difficult to carry or if the event people were photographing an upsetting or unpleasant event. (Bartha)
Snakes in a car:
Talk about distracted driving! A lady in Arkansas almost wrecked her car when a snake slithered out of her dashboard.
KELLY SWISHER was driving along Interstate 49 in Washington County when the four-foot rat snake appeared out of nowhere. Swisher says the sight of it gave her a "nails on a chalkboard" sensation. She adds, "I am not the most flexible person in the world, but I can guarantee my knees were up next to my ears." By the time she pulled over, the snake was in the backseat. Animal control officers responded and removed the serpent. Nobody was hurt. (Still)TV Briefs:
Could it be happening?
New York Newsdaysays 84-year-old REGIS PHILBIN might guest co-host "Live" with KELLY RIPA.
"Well, if they asked me to do a day or two, it might be fun," he said. But, he says, "So far, I haven't heard from anybody." Of course, it wouldn't be a stretch for Reege, who co-hosted the show for 28 years before retiring in 2011.Chic Sh*t:
TAYLOR SWIFT is making greeting cards now --but shhhh! It's some kind of big secret! The Hollywood Reportersays the singer's new collaboration with Papyrus greeting cards includes "colorful, bejewled cards currently available in U.S. stores." But in unveiling the new-Taylor-approved greeting cards, the card company hinted that the cards were "just the beginning" of a potentially larger project. No other details are available... yet! Whistleblowing:
Thousands of little kids will want a pet fish after "Finding Dory" hits theaters next weekend, but you may want to stay far, far away from blue tangs. TMZ.com reports stores have stocked up on the real-life version of the quirky cartoon, which can run 40-60-bucks per-fish. Unfortunately, the exotic swimmers are quite fragile and well-meaning mommies and daddies can "kill these creatures" very easily. (Lee)
