Power Politics:
It's debate time again tonight for Republicans, this round in Milwaukee, sponsored by the Fox Business Network. But when BEN CARSON takes the stage, his biography could be squarely in the spotlight.
Carson's passionate supporters view the debate as an opportunity to put to bed questions about his past in front of a huge national audience.Questions about Carson's backstory reached fever pitch on Friday when Politico posted a story declaring that the Carson campaign had admitted to fabricating a story about him receiving "a full scholarship" offer to the U.S. Military Academy at West Point.
Tonight's debate features eight candidate in the prime time event. (Pacelli)Idle gossip & unconfirmed rumors:
CHER has almost everything she could want in life --except a true love for her son CHAZ. The National Enquirer reports the living legend is battling a "killer virus and emotional stress," facing her "final days" and wants to see her baby boy happily married before she goes to the discotech in the sky. Unfortunately, he's unlucky in love, claims to "repel women I'm attracted to" and has been living alone since parting ways with longtime love JENNIFER ELIA back in 2012. (Lee)
Wasted away again in Margaritaville:
Officer MICHAEL SZELIGA of the Pinellas County Sheriff's Department was being honored by Mothers Against Drunk Driving in Fort Lauderdale. He was getting the award for making over 100 DUI arrests.
Unfortunately, he showed up drunk to accept the award --but he denies driving drunk himself.
Szeliga says he only had one or two drinks prior to the event but one of his supervisors who talked to him that night described him as being "wasted."
Sheriff BOB GUALTIERI said "It was wrong, and again, one of the most ridiculous things I've heard of. When I first heard about it, that was (what) my reaction was. 'Come on, you've got to be kidding me. Really?'"
Szeliga was given one day of paid suspension and was made to write a letter saying he was sorry. (Myers)Reality Round-Up:
If you're one of those people who loved "Pitch Perfect" at the movies and TV shows like "The Sing-Off," there's another show in the works for you.
Deadline reports the Lifetime cable network has ordered eight episodes of "Pitch Slapped," a new a cappella competition show between two competitive high school a cappella teams from New Jersey. In a nice nod to the movie, DEKE SHARON, who was the music director and arranger for the "Pitch Perfect" films, will be coaching one of the teams.Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
The biggest, and wealthiest DEMI LOVATO and NICK JONAS fans can grab the ultimate VIP package on their co-headlining tour. TMZ.com says that for $10-thousand dollars, you and three guests will get your own dressing room backstage, filled with whatever you'd like. There's also a backstage tour, dinner with the crew, and both Demi and Nick will come to your dressing room to hang out, sign autographs and take photos. But, the $10-grand does NOT include tickets to the show! Oh, you can watch both sets from the side of the stage with a very obstructed view, or buy tickets yourself. Word is that Groupon already has tix going for $30-bucks each. If you can spare $10,000-dollars, another $30 probably won't hurt you. (Marino)
