Sucking Up:
DONALD TRUMP reports for jury duty this morning, just like any good American. But it'll be the first time in a while, since he reportedly was fined $250 earlier this year for failing to appear for jury duty several times. A spokesman for Trump said he never showed because the summonses were sent to an incorrect address and that the fine was waived. This time, it appears the summons was sent to his correct address.
Of course, if The Donald is picked to sit on a jury for, say, a murder trial which could go on for months, it could put a serious crimp in his presidential run.
Nevertheless, his campaign spokesman told the New York Times that his campaign "will go on."
Phone starter: Have you ever been chosen to serve on a jury? Both times I've served the person on trial is guilty as sin and should've taken a plea deal to save everyone's time, but got to see a few unbelievable characters that could've come straight out of Central Casting. (Lee)What's the Buzz:
The latest hazard for celebrities getting married is apparently not paparazzi, but drones.
Gawker reports tabloid magazines are now flying camera drones over celebrity ceremonies and as one A-list wedding planner says: "At one event I did recently in the Hamptons, one came in over the water... To the world of celebrities, that is horrible."Models:
BEYONCE will make history when she appears on the cover of Voguemagazine's September issue. According to MTV News, this is Queen Bey's 3rd appearance on a Voguecover. What's more, she's just the third black woman everto land the cover of Vogue's September issue --considered the fashion industry's most important issue of the whole year. The only other models were NAOMI CAMPBELL and HALLE BERRY. (Bartha)
Pet Patrol:
A Missouri couple brought a live boa constrictor into a restaurant, claiming it was a "service animal."
The unidentified diners at El Puente Mexican Restaurant in Nixa insisted the snake helped them battle depression. Terrified customers asked staff to throw the pair out, but they reportedly refused. Witnesses say the snake even slithered away from the female diner "down into the booth behind her."
Restaurant managers say they couldn't ask the pair to leave because it would have violated the Americans with Disabilities Act. But, the act only classifies dogs as service animals --not snakes. (Still)Football:
CORDELL BROADUS has elected to give up football. Who is he and why do we care? --Because he's the son of rapper SNOOP DOGG and an in-coming freshman at UCLA. Broadus was a four-star wide receiver recruit out of Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas. He had offers from several schools other than UCLA such as Florida State and Notre Dame. However, he has decided to quit football but stay at UCLA (despite dissing his Dad's favorite team, archrival USC).
UCLA coach JIM MORA said Friday in a statement released by the school, "Cordell informed me yesterday that he has decided to pursue other passions in his life --in particular his love of film through his company, Film School Productions. Cordell is an amazing young man with many talents, and we wish him nothing but the best as he continues to pursue his degree at UCLA."
UCLA football also features reserve cornerback JUSTIN COMBS, the son of another hip-hop artist, SEAN "Diddy" COMBS. In June, Daddy "Diddy" was arrested for allegedly attacking strength coach SAL ALOSI with a kettlebell. Diddy was reportedly unhappy with his son's treatment. (Lane)Grace notes from Vinny Marino:
JASON DERULO's security team almost caused him to miss a flight. TMZ.com says the singer was on his way from Reno to Los Angeles on Saturday with his entourage when one of them was denied access to the TSA pre-check line. Jason's bodyguard got mouthy with a security agent and the entire group was banned from the flight, except Jason. Well, he wasn't getting on a Southwest Airlines flight by himself, so Jason chartered a private plane. He posted a video on Instagram on board that private jet saying he was going to fire his travel agent. Then, the camera flips to his bodyguard who says, "They can't kick me off of this." (Marino)
