Posturing, Posing, Polling and Press Releases:
DONALD TRUMP told Fox's SEAN HANNITY yesterday that he's no more liberal than former President RONALD REAGAN. Trump said, "Ronald Reagan was a Democrat and he was sort of liberal ...He was a Democrat with a liberal bent and he became a great conservative ...He had something very special ...If you think of it, he was a little bit less conservative than people think, but he had a great heart and I have a great heart."
Reagan was a registered Democrat for much of his adult life before becoming a conservative icon in later years. (Pacelli)Fast food:
Baseball and Mom are still American favorites, but apple pie can move on over 'cuz Baskin-Robbins is where it's at. Yahoo Food reports the United States' favorite dessert isn't a pastry, cookies, cake or even candy, but ice cream! A whopping 41 percent of us like it better than any other sweet treat and we like to keep it simple.
A new study shows that Chocolate is the number one flavor, followed by Cookies & Cream, Vanilla, Cookie Dough and Mint Chocolate Chip. (Lee)Fashion Emergency:
We may finally be over our obsession with the KARDASHIAN Klan! StyleCaster.com says evidence is all around that all things Kardashian are trending downward:
--There's that news anchor who walked off the set in video making the viral rounds because he just couldn't handle one more story about KIM KANYE, KRIS, KYLIE, KENDALL, KOURTNEY, KHLOE, CAITLYN or ROB. Or their exes, current relationships --even baby NORTH WEST. In his words: "I've had enough Kardashians on this show!" I'm sick of this family! It's a non-story!" (Can we get an Amen?)
--Celebrity tabloid gossip blogger PEREZ HILTON has called for a week-long boycott of Kardashian-related stories. From August 17th to the 21st, PerezHilton.com says not a single Kardashian-Jenner will appear on their websites, and they're challenging other websites to do the same. To fill the void, Hilton says their website will replace their Kardashian coverage with "inspiring stories about amazing women from all around the world," The hashtag- #NoKardashiansForAWeek has already taken off on social media. (Stylecaster says Kim unfollowed Hilton shortly after he declared the Kardasha-ban.)
--Another sign that we are ready for the Kardashians to take a hike: A browser extension called "#KardBlock." It launched last May and scours your online feed for news of the Kardashian-Jenners and blocks it before it ever hits your web browser. (Bartha)Rounding up the usual suspects:
It kind of goes without saying that you should know the rules of an activity before you start doing it.
Like fishing. Know the regulations so you can stay, I don't know, maybe within a hundred of the limit of fish you can catch?
That's unfortunately not what anglers from Indiana did when they exceeded the limit of fish by a whopping 676 sunfish and other fish. Conservation officers tracked the party of twelve to Upper Cormorant Lake in Minnesota, where the party had already frozen and filleted most of their 856 fish.
If convicted, they might face a fine and a restitution charge of five bucks per fish --which might not sound like much, but will come out to three-thousand, three hundred eighty bucks on restitution alone.
Only one member of the party was reached for comment, but 78-year-old CLIFFORD EMMONS shrugged it off. "What's there to say?" Emmons asked, "We took too many fish." (AB)Parent(s) of the Day:
What is wrong with parents today? Forgetting a kid in a hot car? Now forgetting a child at a rest stop? A family that was traveling to the French Riviera left their daughter, who's three, at a rest area and drove 90 miles before they realized she wasn't with them. The little girl could only tell police that she had a brother and sister and was "going to the seaside" when she saw "daddy's car pull away." Police sent out an alert that the parents heard and turned around to get their child. They are being questioned now and police haven't decided if charges will be filed against them. (Myers)
