The White House:
PRESIDENT OBAMA has weighed in on the latest revelation concerning NFL running back RAY RICE, who was released yesterday by the Baltimore Ravens and suspended by the league, after an additional video surfaced in which he can be seen punching his wife, before they were married. In a statement, White House spokesman JOHN EARNEST said, "The president is the father of two daughters. And like any American, he believes that domestic violence is contemptible and unacceptable in a civilized society."
The statement continued, "Hitting a woman is not something a real man does, and that's true whether or not an act of violence happens in the public eye, or, far too often, behind closed doors... topping domestic violence is something that's bigger than football --and all of us have a responsibility to put a stop to it." Sorry, folks --you won't be able to sift through GEORGE CLOONEY's medicine cabinet when he marries AMAL ALAMUDDIN. Although rumors have been swirling the grey fox will tie the knot at his Lake Como estate, GC revealed to reporters that the ceremony will take place in Venice.
The lovebirds met in the romantic city one-year ago and are set to meet at the altar this month. Katey, who's currently starring on "Sons of Anarchy," is getting the 2,529th star on the Walk --right next to ED O'NEILL's, who played her husband on "Married With Children."
Ed and CHRISTINA APPLEGATE will be on hand to help unveil the star at 11:30 am (Pacific). On, off and way-off Broadway:
The producers of "Hedwig and the Angry Inch" must have realized that they needed a big star to sell tickets. ANDREW RANNELS is no slouch, but not too many people know who he is. So, former "Dexter" star, MICHAEL C. HALL, will take over the lead role on October 16th and stay in through the holiday season. Oh, Michael can sing. He was the M.C. in "Cabaret" in 2000 and played Billy Flynn in "Chicago" in 2002. (Marino)
Broadcast, cable and video news:
As we mentioned last week, tonight's the night PBS unveils their special about ROBIN WILLIAMS.
"ROBIN WILLIAMS Remembered --A Pioneers of Television Special" will feature Robin's last full-length TV interview and an exclusive, new interview with his "Mork & Mindy" co-star, PAM DAWBER.Grace notes:
JUSTIN BIEBER is off the hook in Toronto. TMZ.com says he was supposed to be in court yesterday to face assault charges for allegedly beating up a limo driver back in December. But, the charges were dropped because it wasn't clear who actually did the punching. There were five other people in that limo besides Justin. His lawyers have been really busy, but right now the only active case against The Bieber is the arrest last week for dangerous driving and assault after he hit a photographers car with his ATV. And, he's still on probation for the egging thing. (Marino)
U2 will be a part of Apple's big announcement today. The New York Times says the band will perform and reveal how Apple will be a part of the promotion for the next U2 album which is supposed to be out by the end of the year. Originally, the rumor was that the new iPhone 6 would come pre-loaded with the new U2 album, but that's not going to happen. Or is it? (Marino)
