The President at play:
PRESIDENT OBAMA has penned an apology note to ANN COLLINS JOHNS, a University of Texas art historian, who sent the White House an e-mail complaining about remarks he made regarding some of the career choices that young people currently make. During those remarks, the president said that in today's job climate, majors like art history aren't among those in big demand.
After seeing Johns' e-mail, the president wrote back:
Ann,
Let me apologize for my off-the-cuff remarks. I was making a point about the jobs market, not the value of art history. As it so happens, art history was one of my favorite subjects in high school, and it has helped me take in a great deal of joy in my life that I might otherwise have missed.
So please pass on my apology for the glib remark to the entire department, and understand that I was trying to encourage young people who may not be predisposed to a four year college experience to be open to technical training that can lead them to an honorable career.
Sincerely,
Barack Obama

--No winner in Saturday night's drawing for the Powerball Lottery. That means tonight's drawing is valued at $400 million ($227.8 million cash value). Powerball is played in 44 states, Washington, DC and the U-S Virgin Islands. Chances of winning the grand prize (all five numbers plus the powerball) are 1 in 175.2 million.
Trash talk and satellite dish:
Warning: note sexual content.
Everyone knows that TAYLOR SWIFT's had her heart broken a time or two, but we now know who to blame! Insiders tell RadarOnline.com that T-Swizzle gave up her chastity to JAKE GYLLENHAAL because she dreamed of marrying the "Brokeback Mountain" stud. Too bad he didn't want much to do with her after the big night, flaked out on her 21st birthday bash and she spent most of the night crying in the bathroom. (Lee)Fashion Emergency:
As if you needed an excuse to take a super-close-up look at HEIDI KLUM in a bikini... for her photo in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue, Heidi is wearing a bikini that is a collage of all 50 of the magazine's iconic covers. Heidi's own Sports Illustratedcover is featured on her unique bikini, along with KATE UPTON, ELLE MacPHERSON. If you look really hard (because we all know you're going to anyway)you'll also find and the first-ever Swimsuit issue cover, featuring model BABETTE MARCH.
Basically, it's like the "Where's Waldo" of bikinis... if Waldo was a bikini model.
The designer of the collage swimsuit told People magazine's Stylewatch that when she heard this would be the magazine's 50th anniversary issue, she "wanted to come up with something really unique." They had the bikini made in Portugal because they knew if it "printed in the U-S, it would get leaked." Heidi also wears a one-piece version of the swimsuit with the Sports IllustratedSwimsuitcover collage for a new coffee table book: "Swimsuit: 50 Years of Beautiful." (Bartha)Also featured in the new Sports Illustrated Swimsuit issue... KATE UPTON got her third cover in a row for the magazine that made her famous. And she really earned it this time. (And that's saying something, because they stuck her in a frozen tundra in a bikini last year.) This year, Kate's wearing a "Barbarella"-styled bikini, posing upside-down in a zero-gravity chamber! New York magazine's The Cut noted that her teeny-tiny string bikini from Target --yes, Target-- was so well-engineered that it withstood Kate's "free-falling D-cups." (Bartha)
Grace notes:
"Yeezus, the Movie?" Hollywood.com says KANYE WEST is working with "American Psycho" author BRET EASTON ELLIS on a big screen version of his latest album. Bret will write the screenplay. He told Vice.com that at first, he had no interest, until he actually heard the "Yeezus" album. That convinced Bret to do it. The author and rapper have already worked together. Bret did the script for the "Yeezus" promo video, which was inspired by the "American Psycho" movie. (Marino)
