Fashion Emergency:
Adidas unveiled a limited-edition "Boston Stands as One" T-shirt yesterday to benefit victims of Monday's bombings. For the past 25 years, Adidas has sponsored the 26.2-mile race with its organizer, the Boston Athletic Association. Women's Wear Daily says the shirts retail for $26.20 and are being sold on both the B-A-A and Adidas websites. One hundred percent of the proceeds will go to The One Fund Boston, which was established Wednesday to help those affected by Monday's explosions. (Bartha)
Grace notes:
JAY-Z is on one of the seven covers ofTime magazine's "100 Most Influential People In The World" issue. The born and bred Brooklyn resident got some major props from New York City Mayor MICHAEL BLOOMBERG who wrote (quote), "When no one would sign him to a record contract, he created his own label and built a music empire --before going on to design clothing lines, open sports bars and, most recently, represent professional athletes." Other musicians named in the issue include Jay-Z's wife, BEYONCE, his buddy JUSTIN TIMBERLAKE, FRANK OCEAN and MIGUEL. (Marino)
Gossip Central: tabloids:
KIM KARDASHIAN can be bought for any price. In Touch magazine reports that the pregnant reality show star is gaining as much weight as she can while she's pregnant so she can secure a weight loss deal with a huge payday after the baby is born.
Looking for Love in all the Wrong Places:
A barber shop in Australia is attracting customers from hundreds of miles away --by offering raunchy haircuts.
Barber Babes features nearly naked female barbers. The ladies trim hair while topless and wearing only skimpy bottoms. Customers have been known to travel from up to 850-miles away just for a simple cut. The scantily-clad barbers also offer scalp massages, and blow dries. (Still)HALL & OATES got into a big fight, and Oates bit Hall in the face! Great headline, but it's not what you think. ABC News says Scott Hall of Berlin, Ohio, called police to report that he got bit just above his eye by his neighbor, Roger Oates. Oates has asked Hall to testify on his behalf in an upcoming trial. Oates was charged with giving alcohol to minors. Hall said no and that's when Oates took a big chunk of skin out near Hall's left eyebrow. When the police showed up, they had to taser Oates to get him under control. He was arrested and charged with felony assault and resisting arrest. Hall was taken to the hospital.
Editor's note: Cue up "Maneater!" (Marino)Losers in Lockup:
The city of Columbia, South Carolina, has an interesting definition for "littering".
Police there say they arrested an unidentified 42-year-old woman after she stripped her clothes off and approached them on the street. Cops were holding an anti-littering press conference at the time. So, to make their point, they charged her with littering for throwing her clothes on the ground. (Still)Anniversaries:
CHARLES MANSON sentenced to life in prison for SHARON TATE murders, 1971.
--20th Anniversary of Branch Davidian Fire ending the 51-day standoff outside Waco, TX (1993).
--18th Anniversary of Oklahoma City, OK bombing of the Federal Building, (1995).
--THE BEATLES sign a contract to stay together for 10 years (they didn't, of course). The year: 1967. -
